Our Founders

Two operators who have scaled high-growth companies from startup to multi-million-dollar success — now applying that same discipline to make better homes faster, stronger, and more affordable.

Andrew Schar and Paul Rawlins founded Boxkill with a clear conviction: the way homes are designed, manufactured, and delivered is overdue for reinvention. Both bring deep experience building and scaling consumer product companies — most notably at Laird Superfood (from launch through public offering) and PlantBaby — where they drove operational excellence, revenue growth, and international expansion.

That background in supply-chain rigor, manufacturing systems, channel development, and capital-efficient growth is exactly what Boxkill needs as it redefines small-footprint living with precision-engineered, material-efficient homes.

Andrew Schar

Co-Founder & Owner

Andrew is an operations executive and startup leader with deep roots in design-build construction. The majority of his career was spent designing and building custom homes before moving into high-growth consumer brands. As Chief Operating Officer at PlantBaby, he played a central role in driving significant sales growth. Previously, as VP of Operations at Laird Superfood, he led the company’s transition from early-stage startup to a multi-million-dollar enterprise.

His expertise spans supply chain management, manufacturing facility design, vertical integration, ERP implementation, financial modeling, and brand development. A strategic thinker and collaborative partner, Andrew thrives on complex challenges and continuous learning—guided by a commitment to curiosity and growth.

At Boxkill he brings both the systems thinking of a seasoned operator and the practical construction experience required to turn innovative home designs into efficient, repeatable manufacturing reality.

Paul Rawlins

Co-Founder & Owner

Paul is a seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience in international trade, economic development, and CPG startups. Based in Sisters, Oregon, he is known for building high-performing teams that drive revenue growth.

As Chief Revenue Officer at PlantBaby, Paul scaled the company from startup to multi-million-dollar revenue, leading sales and marketing, restructuring channels, and helping secure $6 million in funding. Previously, as Senior Director of Business Development at Laird Superfood, he grew the business from launch to $45 million in revenue and supported its successful public offering — developing global strategy, driving innovation, and expanding into multiple international markets.

Earlier, as founder and CEO of Kabum Coffee International, he created an agricultural strategy for Uganda’s coffee sector, established supply chains with Michigan State University, improved farmer pricing, and led community projects including schools, churches, and wells. He holds a degree in Business Management from Corban University.

At Boxkill, Paul applies decades of go-to-market and partnership expertise to bring a better way of building homes to market.

Together, Andrew and Paul combine operational excellence with commercial leadership — the exact mix needed to deliver on Boxkill’s promise of high-quality, space-efficient, more affordable homes.
